There was a chemical spill in Mrs. Brevik's 5th grade science class!! "WE" are grateful to have these budding scientists on hand to identify what the chemical was. Mrs. Brevik's students had to identify the unknown substance by observing chemical change. They also had to describe the appearance of each material by testing with wet PH paper and with drops of vinegar placed directly on the chemical. SPOILER ALERT: The unknown substance was identified as baking soda. The other chemicals tested were citric acid, flour, Borax detergent, table salt and sugar. "WE" LOVE SCIENCE here at HHE!
