Jr. Girls take Title in Waldron

The Mena Jr. Ladycats dominated the field and took the Champions trophy in the Bear State Bank Tournament in Waldron.  The Ladycats opened play on Monday with strong 48-37 victory over Cossatot River to set up a meeting with the number one seeded Mt. Ida Lady Lions.  The Jr. Ladycats started slow but were able to surge to a 37-25 victory to send them to the finals against the host team Waldron.  Behind suffocating defense, strong rebounding, and consistent scoring, the Jr. Ladycats took command early and cruised to a resounding 48-12 victory over the Jr. Lady Bulldogs to secure the trophy.  Paige Evans was named the Tournament MVP behind her 50+ points in 3 games and also being the leading rebounder.

The Jr. Ladycats (5-0) will next be in action on Monday, November 28 at Lakeside.
