From Polk County Sheriff Scott Sawyer!
Yesterday I had the honor and the privilege of certifying a brand new batch of reserve Officers. Many of them are school employees that sacrificed their summer to take this class and help keep our schools safe. They are now Polk County Reserve Deputies. As such, they will be patrolling our area schools prepared to protect our children. We were the first County in the State to certify school officials as Reserve Officers when we began this program last year. It was well received and has been so successful that we decided to expand the program. Our local school districts have done a great job upgrading their security programs over the last few years and I am proud of the partnership I have with them.
