Hats

Arkansas Children's website says.” Our greatest need is for large hats for school-age kids, teens and young adults. We ask that hats be approximately the size of an average cantaloupe or larger. “
Knitting or crocheting hats or making quilts, blankets, NICU isolette covers and small stuffed animals/pillows for children of all ages are some of the many ways you can help make patient visits brighter. Each year our talented circle of volunteer knitters, crocheters and stitchers create amazing handmade items for patients at Arkansas Children’s. “

There were 19 students who helped knit and crochet the NICU Preemie hats.

Evanna Stockes, Psalm Wistrand, Nevaeh Baldwin, Niang Sian Dopmul, Genesis Fabian, Ariella Jaynes, Cora Maddox, Olivia Vanarsdale, alyana Gilbert, jaron Hadley, Emmi Hensley, Mackenley Sullivan, Tiffany cavelli, Naveah Day, Lanie Taylor, Niang Sian Dopmul, Waylon Yoakem, Ty Thomas, Zea Hamilton, and Addyson Rodriquez.

We completed 55 Preemie hats for premature babies that are in the NICU.

We would like to graciously thank community members Mary Hagler, Marilyn Lister, and Rebecca Romine for donating yarn, crochet hooks and knitting needles for this project. We also would like to thank Rich Mountain Fiber Company for donating yarn. Without their support this project would not have been possible.

NiCU Hearts:
From the Arkansas Children’s hospital website: “NICU Hearts are an amazing way for parents and babies to bond while a child has a NICU stay. Mothers and fathers may wear a heart inside a shirt for a time and then the hearts are taken to the NICU and placed in the isolette with the baby. This allows the baby to smell and bond with the parents in such a sweet way.”

There were a total of 17 MHS students that helped with the hearts. They may have traced, cut, or sewed the hearts.

Nevaeh Baldwin, Max Barnes, Tiffany Cavelli, chloe Cossey, Gracie Fariless, Jaron Hadley, Averly Massey, Emma McBride, Graice Nash, Jaydis Patton, Nayei Pinon, Carolina Romine, Dakota Romine, Clara White, Daniele Venable, Olivia Varsdate, Abigayle Tolbert.

We traced, cut, and sewed 36 Hearts!
