A great day for Mena High School freshman Richie Davis on Thursday. Davis shot an 81 and tied for 9th in the Arkansas Overall State Golf Championship at Pleasant Valley Golf Club in Little Rock.

The Bearcat Golf Team competed at the 4A State Match on Tuesday. The team was lead by Richie Davis who shot a 75. Richie qualified for the state overall championship that will be played Thursday, October 17th at Pleasant Valley Golf Club in Little Rock. Mena Cross Country competed in the Buck Fever Showcase on Tuesday. The Sr. Ladycats were led by Jasmine Parker with her 4th place finish. The Jr. Bearcats were led by Madox Plunkett who finished 12th and the Sr. Bearcats top finisher was JoJo Hernandez with a 12th place finish. Mena Golf competed in the 4A District Tournament at Eagle Crest Golf Club on Monday. The Ladycats finished 5th and the Bearcats finished 2nd. Richie Davis was the Medalist for the day with a 67. Ft. Lake was the winner of the tournament 11 strokes ahead of the Bearcats. The boys 4A State Golf Match will be October 8th at the Desoto Golf Course in Hot Springs Village.

Parking lot improvements are underway at Bob Carver Bearcat Stadium. At the August School Board Meeting Dr. Smith asked the board to approve the resurfacing with gravel at a cost not to exceed $35,000.00. https://www.menaschools.org/article/1723337
