The Holly Harshman Elementary Great Teammate Award Winners were team captains at the Sr. Ladycats volleyball game on Thursday.

The Sr. Ladycats played Magnolia on Thursday at the Union Bank Center. Mena won the match 28-26/25-16/25-12. The Ladycats are back in action on Saturday at the Paris Tournament.

The Jr. Ladycats played Magnolia on Thursday at the Union Bank Center. Mena lost 25-6/24-26/7-15. The Ladycats return to action on Saturday at the Rover Valley Tournament.

Mena Bearcat Coaches have selected #15, Dax McMellon, as the Farm Bureau Insurance Player of the Game for Week #4 vs. the Riverview Raiders. Dax is the 16 year old son of Rob and Amanda McMellon and is a Sophomore, Quarterback for the Bearcats this season. Last Friday night, Dax threw for 196 yards, completing 15 of 19 pass attempts, and 3 touchdowns. Dax and the Bearcats won the game by a convincing final score of 45-21. Dax stays busy, helping his Dad on their family cattle farm when he is not involved in school activities. He enjoys hunting, fishing, and trap shooting in his free time. He plans to attend college, but is undecided as to a field of study at this time. Mena is now 3-1 for the season but has a bye week this Friday. Bearcats will host the Arkadelphia Badgers on September 29th at Randall Whorton Field. Shown presenting Dax with his Player of the Week game ball, is local Farm Bureau Agent, Nikki Cureton. 5th grader Emmaly Dominquez and 3rd grader Faith Grogan were captains for the Ladycat volleyball team on Monday the 11th. Emmaly and Faith were the most recent winners of the Holly Harshman Elementary Teammate Award.

For week two the coaches chose Addison Thomas for the Matt Thomas State Farm player of the week! Addison is a Junior outside hitter for the Ladycat’s. She loves to get up and smash the ball but is also great at scrambling to keep a volley going. Early on this season Coach Lyle has been coaching her up on her off speed game to help her become a more complete package. She had a great week 2 with the off speed game. Help me congratulate Addison Thomas on a job well done!

The Matt Thomas State Farm week 1 player of the week is Senior Libero Jocelyn Hernandez! Jocelyn has has been doing an excellent job holding down the back row with great passing and exciting digs. Help me congratulate Jocelyn on a job well done.
