The Mena Basscats had two teams compete on Lake Dardanelle this past Sunday in the Student Angler Federation Arkansas State Championship. Austin Johnston and Cason Cannon took 4th place. Jarrett Burger and Austin Rose took 5th place. Burger & Rose came home with the Lew’s Big Bass Award & a pair of new Lew’s Reels.

The Mena Softball Team Lost to Ashdown 9-1 and then beat Dierks 12-2 Saturday at the Ashdown Tournament.. The Ladycats finish 2-1 in tournament play & will play next on Tuesday 3/10 when they host Hope at Union Bank Park!
The Bearcat Baseball Classic was played at Union Bank Park today. Mena beat Mt. Ida 6-5 & also defeated Cossatot 13-5 ! The Bearcats go 3-0 in classic play! Go Bearcats!
The Mena Ladycats are playing in a softball tournament at Ashdown. Mena defeated Avery Texas by a score of 15-5 on Friday. They will play next on Saturday at 1:00pm. Go Ladycats!
A full house watched the opening game of the Bearcat Baseball Classic at Union Bank Park Friday afternoon. Mena score 8 runs on 5 hits & won by a score of 8-6... The boys are back in action Saturday at the UBP... They will face Mt. Ida at 12:30pm & then play Cossatot at 3:00pm. GO BEARCATS!!

The Mena Sr. Girls basketball season came to an end today in Farmington. The Ladycats lost to Pea Ridge in the first round of the 4A State Tournament 25-39 & finish with a record of 17-16..
It was a great start to the season for the Mena Soccer Teams Tuesday night as they picked up a pair of wins in Texarkana. The Ladycats defeated Arkansas High 1-0 & the Bearcats won 2-1... The Mena teams will play their home opener at Bearcat Stadium against Heavener on Friday 3/13/20.. GO BEARCATS!
The Mena Bearcats picked up an 8-0 win over Mansfield at Union Bank Park Tuesday. Mena scored 4 in the 3rd inning and never looked back. The Bearcat Classic begins this Friday when Mena host Acorn at 4pm... Go Bearcats!

The University of Central Arkansas track & field teams, led by Mena's Zach Jewell, wrapped up the 2020 Southland Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships on Monday.
Jewell tied his school record in the 60m with an effort of 6.75. His run earned him the fastest man in the SLC. He broke his own school record in the 200m with a run of 20.98 and finished in second just one tenth of a second behind first.

"I looked back and I was just filled with joy. Usually, it takes a while for the victory to set in. As I was coming to the line I looked over and saw that I was out in front. Instantly, I knew something good had to come out of that. I ran my best in the 200m and it's been a long road since the first week when I pulled my hamstring. I've been working hard and I'm happy the hard work has paid off."
