Andrea Blair, 3-5 Math teacher, would like to recommend the adventure picture book, Bill and Pete to the Rescue, written and illustrated by Tomie DePaola.
🐊“There was a lot of excitement on the banks of the Nile, where William Everett Crocodile (who was known as Bill) and his unusual friend Pete (a toothbrush!) lived with Bill’s mother. One day, their friend, Little Jane Allison Crocodile, went missing. Bill and Pete set out on an adventure to find her.
They boarded a ship called Cleopatra after overhearing some bad guys talking about a small Nile crocodile being taken to the United States. While on the ship, Bill and Pete discovered that animals were locked in cages. However, they couldn’t rescue the animals until the boat docked.
During the journey, Bill and Pete became separated. Days went by, and Bill couldn’t find Pete. When the ship finally docked, Bill spotted the caged animals being unloaded—and to his surprise, Pete was also in a cage. But Bill stuck to his plan: he needed to find Cousin Jane.
Meanwhile, Pete managed to escape his cage and search for Bill.
After a long search, Bill and Pete reunited, found the caged animals, and discovered an unexpected long-lost relative!
Read this heartwarming adventure to find out who the surprise relative is in Bill and Pete to the Rescue, written by Tomie DePaola!”🚢

Third Grade Teacher, Brittany Ford, has chosen to share one of her favorites with you, The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo.
This is the heartwarming story of Edward Tulane, who is a rabbit made out of china. He is a special rabbit. He does not see himself as simply a “doll.” Edward is very proud and self-centered. He loves only himself. Young Abilene loves him, but Edward cares nothing for love. That is until one day, Edward becomes lost, and his whole world changes. The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane is a story about love, loss, change, and finding a way back home. I know that you will fall in love with Edward, just like I have, and his miraculous journey.
“If you have no intention of loving or being loved, then the whole journey is pointless.” Quote from Edward Tulane
