Mena High School will conduct parent-teacher conferences today by phone from 3: 30-6: 30pm. A phone call from each student's enrichment teacher should be expected.
Mena Middle School will hold virtual conferences as well today. Parents should expect a call from the student's achieve teacher during conference hours, 3;30pm - 6:30pm.


Mena Volleyball remained undefeated by beating Magnolia on Tuesday 3-0 at the Union Bank Center. The final score was 25-10, 25-13 & 25-10.

If you plan to go to the FBLA District conference, the permission form MUST be turned in by tomorrow, September 15th. Look for an email letting you know if you still need to turn it in.
Students, please be aware that once you enter the gate for home football and volleyball games, you are not allowed to leave or go to the parking lot and come back into the facility. Once you leave the gate, you are making the decision to leave the ball game for the night, and you cannot pay to re-enter either.
The chess club will have its first meeting this Friday, September 17 during enrichment. We will meet in Mrs. Labertew’s room, room 206.
Students, you can purchase your homecoming dance tickets, powerpuff entry, and your DodgeFest team fees with Mrs. Ashcraft. Dance tickets are $10 each. The dance will be Saturday evening, September 25, from 8:00 to 11:00 p.m. Student ID’s will be printed today & we will start distributing them ASAP.
This year we are happy to announce we are able to provide you with after school library hours and tutoring. The schedule for this is:
Monday: Mrs. Hooker 3:30 to 7 pm
Tuesday: Ms. Catlett 3:30 to 7 pm (this Tuesday it start 4)
Wednesday: Ms. Ashcraft 3:30 to 6 pm (this Wednesday no Library Hours because of parent teacher conferences)
Thursday: Mrs. Hoyle 3:30 to 7 pm
Saturday: Mrs. Hoyle or Ms. Catlett 9:00 to 12:00
This is time that you can use to study, gather for a group meeting, use our new makerspace, or get help with assignments.
If you sign up for it before the end of school, snacks will be provided. Saturday tutoring must be signed up for by Friday, the google form can be found in your “Class Of…” Google Classroom.
Math tutoring will be each morning from 7:15-8:00, and each Monday- Wednesday after school until 4:15.
Ms. Hendrix will be tutoring after school on Thursdays until 5:15.
Students, there are art posters up in the hallway with a “SCAN ME” QR code. There will be a prize awarded to one of the students who respond to the questions on the form. Look for them and participate!
Anyone who would like to join FCCLA please see Mrs. Wilson or Mrs. Hobson. Dues are $15 and can be paid anytime this month.
For anyone interested in joining the Sci-Fi Club, please contact Ms. Hooker either in person or by email to be added to the Google Classroom. Our first meeting isn’t until October 8th so this is the best way to get club information before the first meeting.

Ms. Labertew will be set up in the cafeteria each Friday during lunch A, ready for you to teach her a new skill or a trick. Once you show her how it’s done, she will attempt to perform it as well. Whether it’s juggling, roping, a card trick, or even dance moves, Ms. Labertew is ready for you to teach her something new. Look for her in the cafeteria each Friday during lunch A for the “Teach Me How To…” events.

I. Quiz Bowl: Right after these announcements, the 7 th & 8 th grade Quiz Bowl team will have
practice in the Conference Room.
II. School Pictures: Picture day for MMS is two weeks from today (September 28). Even if you do not plan to purchase pictures, you will have your photo taken for things like the yearbook and updated school ID card.
III. Conferences: Parent / Teacher phone conferences will be tomorrow evening. Your mid-term grades and ACT Aspire scores will be mailed to your home address.
IV. FFA: FFA officer applications are available in Mr. McCormick's room. These will be due this Friday.
V. Internet Use: Just a reminder that our tech department is able to see all of your internet activity. They have recently received a couple of alerts on students conducting inappropriate searches. Use your device for school work only.
VI. Dance: We will have our MMS dance this evening. The dance will take place outside in the patio area.

Mena Volleyball played on the road at Booneville.
The 7th grade Ladycats split their match.
Mena Jr. JV won 2-1 by a score of 21-25, 25-23 & 15-8.
The Jr. High Varsity won 2-0 by a score of 25-21 & 25-20.
The Mena Sr. girls beat Booneville 3-0 by a score of 25-22, 25-17 & 26-24.
Mena is back in action on Tuesday when they host Magnolia.


Mena Coaches have selected # 61, Jett Baber, as the Farm Bureau Insurance Player of the Game vs. Hot Springs
Jett is a Senior and starts both ways for the Bearcats this season, playing at Center and Defensive Tackle.
Jett had 6 tackles and one QB sack on defense and graded out at over 90% at Center for the night.
He is the son of Nicholas and Jennifer Baber and the grandson of Ellen Baber. Jett’s hobbies include hunting, fishing,
and hanging out with his girlfriend, Sara Dozier.
After high school, Jett plans to attend UA Rich Mountain and pursue a degree in the medical field, eventually becoming
a Physical Therapist or a Sports Medicine Trainer.
Jett and the Bearcats will try to redeem their lost last week, this Friday night, when they will host the undefeated, Booneville Bearcats.

Mena Jr. Volleyball played in a tournament at Paris on Saturday. The Ladycats were 3-0 in pool play but lost 2-1 in the semi-finals of the gold bracket.
The girls will be back in action on Monday at Booneville.

Mena Sr. Football played their first road game of the season on Friday & also lost their first game of the year. Hot Springs defeated the Bearcats 34-0.
