Laura Taylor and Stephanie Bell from the state Project Prevent Leadership Team were at Mena Middle School on Friday spreading the be tobacco free message to students.
MMS students took advantage of the opportunity to pledge to be tobacco/nicotine free. There were 188 pledges made. Red Ribbon Week 2021 was a big success at MMS!

Lance Spinger, Will Sheffield, Tracy Nealy, and Bill Savell, softball and baseball coaches from the University of Arkansas at RIch Mountain, spoke this morning about careers related to coaching and teaching at Mena High School. Students were invited to attend their presentation based on their "liked" career choices in Xello. Xello is the career planning software program MHS students are using to learn more about their skills, knowledge, and plans for their future careers.

Mena High School JAG students took advantage of an opportunity to mentor at Holly Harshman Elementary on Thursday.

The Project Prevent coloring contest winners were announced at the Red Ribbon Rally on Friday. The Holly Harshman Winners were

Red Ribbon Week fun peaked on Thursday at Mena Middle School. The theme was "Drug Free in the Country". Students & staff broke out the western wear. We will continue to encourage our students to stay drug free on Friday with Beach/ Hawaiian attire for "Catch the Wave to be Drug Free" !

There will be a Mena Senior Parent event planning meeting on Wednesday, November 17th at 5:30 pm in the Mena High School Library. These events include after prom & the winter formal.

The Mena Ladycat volleyball season came to an end at the 4A State Tournament on Wednesday. Brookland defeated Mena 3-2 by a score of 22-25, 25-20, 28-26, 15-25 & 14-16. Thank you Ladycats for a great season !!!

It's a wet day in Mena & that makes it a great day to practice indoors. Coach Sandifer & the Bearcat baseball team did just that Wednesday at the Southern Sports Academy. The Mena School Board approved an agreement at their August meeting for unlimited use of the facility with no long term contract.

The Mena Ladycats defeated Pottsville 3-0 in the first round of the 4A State Volleyball Tournament on Tuesday. The score was 25-17, 25-12 & 25-10. Mena will play the winner of the Brookland/Farmington game on Wednesday at 4pm. The games are being played at Shiloh in Springdale.

Bearcat Coaches have selected # 66, Bobby Wallis, as the Farm Bureau Insurance Player of the Game vs Dardanelle.
Bobby is a Senior this season for the Bearcats and hardly ever leaves the field, playing both Defensive End and Offensive
Tackle, plus all specialty teams for the Bearcats. Bobby had 3 tackles including one spectacular TD saving tackle Friday
night and he graded out at 93% from the offensive line vs the Sand Lizards. Mena lost the high scoring contest 56-42.
Bobby is the son of Robert Wallis and Stephanie and Rick Brown. Bobby also plays basketball, soccer, and is on the track team
for the Bearcats. His hobbies include hunting, hanging out with friends, and he is really into photography. He takes pictures
for the Junior High sports programs when he can. After High School, Bobby plans to attend AR Tech University and get a coaching degree.
This week, Bobby and the Bearcats travel to face a tough Lamar Warrior team, who has only suffered 1 loss all season. Playoff
seeding is dependent upon the outcome of this Friday’s game.
