The Mena Bearcats played Bauxite in the first round of the 7-4A District Tournament on Saturday. Mena lost by a score of 42-48. The Sr. Boy’s season comes to an end with the loss.

Malvern has cancelled the games scheduled for today in Mena. Information on the possibility of games being played on Friday & Saturday will be posted as soon as it is available,


The Bearcats led at the half but lost to Hope 43-47 at the Union Bank Center on Wednesday. Mena falls to 4-8 in conference play & 5-14 on the season.. The boys are scheduled to play Malvern on Thursday at the UBC. Games begin at 6:00pm..


The Mena Ladycats improved to 17-2 & 12-1 in conference play with their 44-21 win over Hope on Wednesday. The girls will play Malvern at the Union Bank Center on Thursday. Games are scheduled to begin at 6:00pm.


Students in the Mena High School Orientation to Teaching classes made cards, monogrammed clipboards, and goodie bags to show our appreciation for teachers and faculty at MHS today.


MHS students, who are members of the Future Business Leaders of America, competed in the Spring Leadership Conference today. Those listed below placed & qualified for state.


Congratulations to Mr.Rodney Rowland for receiving the February Teacher of the Month Award. It was stated that Mr.Rowland is encouraging, kind, compassionate, and always wants the best for all of his students. He loves to joke with students and can always make them laugh even if they're having a bad day. Mr. Rowland takes on many things and with all of those he strives to do his best. He will receive a certificate from Mrs. Wilson’s Orientation to Teaching and Child Care Guidance Classes and a cupcake from Sassafras Bakehouse.

The HUB is taking applications for the 21-22 school year. If you are an upcoming senior graduating in 2022 and would like to apply for the HUB program, please fill out an application and return them to Mrs. Threlkeld in the HUB, Room 111. If you plan to work your senior year and would like to attend The HUB, please also fill out the AE JAG application form. Applications and HUB expectations were emailed to the Class of 2022 students on Tuesday. Please email Mrs. Threlkeld or stop by Room 111 with any other questions.

If you did not order your copy of the 2021 Mena High School Yearbook yet, see Mr. Philpot to place your order as soon as possible. The yearbook staff has extended the deadline to order a non-personalized copy of the 2021 yearbook through this Thursday, February 11. Yearbooks can be ordered for $60 with cash or check through Mr. Philpot’s room 205.
There will be a Junior Boys(7th-9th grade) track meeting on Wednesday, February 10th during Achieve/Enrichment in the Middle school gym for any 9th grade boys interested in being on the track team this spring.
The underclassmen t-shirts have arrived. If you ordered a Freshmen, Sophomore, or Junior shirt, you may stop by Mr. Philpot’s room 205 during enrichment, or they will be delivered to your 2nd period class. For anyone who would like to still purchase an underclassman shirt, there are a few extra shirts in various sizes available. They are $15, and can be purchased with cash or check in Mr. Philpot’s room.

I. 7 th & 8 th grade Quiz Bowl will meet in the Conference Room right after these

II. Any 7 th or 8 th grade boy that is interested in participating in track, will meet with Coach
Luttmer in the gym tomorrow during ACHIEVE.
III. From Mrs. Breedlove: Valentine's Day is coming up. Cheerleaders will be selling 'Crushes
for your crush, or your friends.' Crushes can be purchased at lunch for $1 and will be
passed out during 7th period on Friday.
IV. Students, due to our Wifi issues, make sure that the Wifi is turned OFF on you phones.
V. From Mrs. Rose: Prize winners from the Kindness Challenge Drawing are Rayleigh
Goodnight, Riya Desai, Zeke Kupper, William Higgens, Emmi Ownes, and John Gomez.
Stop by Mrs. Rose's office to claim your prize.
VI. Next Monday, February 15 th , will be a virtual learning day for students. You will not be
attending school that day.
VII. There is a small possibility of some wintery weather at the end of this week or early next
week. If there is wintery weather early in the morning before school, listen to the local radio
stations KENA 104.1 or KQOR 105.3 or look at the district’s Facebook pages for
information regarding school closing.
VIII. Lunchtime Weather: The forecast shows some frigid cold daytime temperatures arriving in
a couple of days. Dress appropriately.
