MHS Theatre III students are presenting "To Burn A Witch" this morning, in the Performing Arts Center, for classes reading "The Crucible".

The Mena Ladycats have advanced to the 7-4A Conference Tournament Finals with a 45-19 win over Arkadelphia at the Union Bank Center. Mena will play at Nashville on Saturday at 6:00pm. GO LADYCATS!

The Mena Ladycats will be playing in the 4A South Regional Tournament in Star City next week. Here is the ticket information to the 4A South Regional Basketball Tournament. This event is a mobile entry event - tickets must be presented on a smart phone for entry. Printed tickets will not be accepted. Admission will be charged for ages 5 and up. Gifted & Talented 4th & 5th graders at HHE wrote letters to someone in their life that encourages them to think creatively, solve problems critically, and look at problems from a different perspective. This week is Gifted & Talented Awareness Week in Arkansas.

This week is National Through with Chew Week. MMS Project Prevent team set up an information/prevention booth today at lunch. Team member Kinley read off chew tobacco facts encouraging her peers to choose to be tobacco free. Students were given the opportunity to sign a banner as a pledge to "Pick"le to be Through with Chew. Students who made the pledge were given a pickle. Close to 300 pledges to stay tobacco free were made. Special Thanks to team member Kili for making the cool banner.

The Mena Ladycats will host Arkadelphia in the semi-finals of the district tournament on Thursday. Arkadelphia defeated Ft. Lake 62-45 on Tuesday to advance. The game will be played at the Union Bank Center with tip-off set for 6:00pm. Vouchers for tickets are normally given on the day of the game at the administration building but tickets for this game will be sold at the door & no vouchers will be needed.

A crew from UAMS is administering round two of the covid vaccine to MPS employees today. Quarantine numbers continue to fall in the district mirroring the national trend.

Louise Durham Elementary will participate in Read Across America March 1st-5th. A fun week filled with Dress Up Days, our traditional school wide reading challenge, guest readers and lots of books are planned.

If you are an upcoming senior graduating in 2022 and would like to apply for the HUB program, please fill out an application and return them to Mrs. Threlkeld in the HUB, Room 111.
