Yearbook sales for the 2021 Mena High School Yearbook have officially begun. Be sure to order your yearbook before October 1 to take advantage of the lowest price of $50. If you personalize your yearbook before October 1 with your name on it for an additional $6, you will receive four free icons for the cover. See Mr. Philpot in room 205 for the new format for ordering yearbooks this year.
There are paw prints on the floor in the cafeteria to mark where you should stand in line for social distancing. This is for breakfast and lunch.
All students should be dropped off and picked up in the student parking lot by the patio.
There is stuff left from the lockers last year in the counseling center. IF you left things in the lockers, please come see if it is here, and take it with you!
MHS Cheerleading Competition team will be doing a fundraiser this fall. They are personalizing your parking spots. It is $25 to have them do this, please see Coach Hughes room 315 for more details or to purchase your personalization.
The first FBLA meeting of the year will be tomorrow, Friday, in Room 401 during Enrichment. We will discuss the upcoming fall conference as well as the possibility of fundraisers and community service projects. If you would like to join, dues are $15. Dues can be paid at the meeting or to Mrs. Torix any day before or after school, during Enrichment or between classes.

Mena students showed cattle at the Polk County Livestock Show on Wednesday. Swine will show on Thursday at the Polk County Fairgrounds.

Virtual & blended students will have to sign up for meals every week. Meals may be picked up at Louise Durham or High School on Fridays between 1 and 2 pm We are no longer allowed to serve on the SSO option so meals will be charged to the student’s account, as though the student was in school, based on their Free/Reduced/Paid status. The form will need to be filled out by 2 pm Thursday for meal pick up on Friday. Follow the link to fill out the form for September 8th-11th.

After consulting Polk County leaders about road conditions and seeing the rain forecast for tomorrow morning, Mena Public Schools is announcing that it will close tomorrow, September 2nd, for the safety of all students and employees. This will be an AMI day.

Mena students showed goats & sheep at the Polk County Livestock Show on Monday. Cattle will be on Wednesday & swine on Thursday at the Polk County Fairgrounds.

Due to dangerous water levels and the threat of more heavy rain, Mena Public Schools will be closing all schools and releasing students this morning at 8:30. All after school activities are cancelled, as well.

The Jr. Bearcats knocked off Mansfield 16-6 at Bearcat Stadium Monday. Mena starts the season 1-0 & will host DeQueen Thursday at 6pm. GO BEARCATS!!!

Golf will be playing schools from around the area at Degray State Park Golf Course beginning at 4:00pm.
Jr. volleyball will play at Fort Smith Ramsey beginning at 4:00pm.
7th grade & Jr. football will host Mansfield at Bearcat Stadium beginning at 5:30pm.

The Bearcats score 39 points in the first half & cruises to a win in the season opener over DeQueen Friday night. Mena will play Harding Academy next Friday at 7pm in Bearcat Stadium. Go Bearcats!!!!

Monday, September 21: Senior Picture Make-Up/Retakes Day with Prestige (approximately 75 Seniors still need their senior pictures taken). These will be in the MHS safe room, with the possibility of using the MMS safe room for picture prep.
Monday: September 28: MHS School Day Picture Day with Lifetouch. Grades 9, 10, 11, and Faculty. MHS Safe Room.
Tuesday, September 29: MMS School Picture Day with Lifetouch. Grades 6, 7, 8. and Faculty. MMS Safe Room.
Monday, October 12: Sports Picture Day for all Fall Sports, Cheer, Band and all Basketball teams.(grades 7-12). Per the AAA, we are not able to take group/team photos, so Lifetouch will be essentially "photo shopping" together a team/group photo of each of our teams and groups. They are our only resource to get team photos this year.
More info will be available as these dates draw closer & if there are any changes we will let you know.
