Mena will play Hot Springs tonight at Bob Carver Bearcat Stadium. Kickoff is at 7:00pm. A limited number of tickets available to the general public (no more than 2 tickets per person) can be picked up at the Central Office from (8:00am to 3:45pm).

Blended & virtual student meals for September 14th-18th may be picked up today at Louise Durham Elementary or Mena High School between 1 and 2 pm.

Ticket Sales for Hot Springs vs. Mena Bearcats! Due to Covid-19, the Governor and Arkansas Department of Health has put a limit on the number of people who can attend indoor and outdoor activities. These restrictions are not the desire of anyone in the district. However, for the health and safety of our players, coaches and fans, we MUST adhere to the guidelines set by the ADH and Governor. We are fortunate, at this time, to be able to continue with our sporting events. Mena Public Schools will adhere to the Indoor and Outdoor venue guidelines set forth by the Arkansas Department of Health. Anyone over 10 years of age must wear a face covering at all times. Single-household family groups can sit together but must be 6-feet apart from other groups or individuals. Seating areas will be marked such that every other row is unoccupied. Anyone found not to be in compliance with the regulations set forth by the ADH will be asked by an administrator or security officer to comply. Refusal to follow directives will result in removal from the premises. Due to the new guidelines, MPS will no longer allow FREE ADMISSION passes other than those issued by the Arkansas Athletics Association. Ticket Prices: Per game admission is $5.00 per person. Football Games: -Bearcat Stadium Capacity-680 Football Players, Band, and Cheer will be issued a certain number of redeemable tickets first. If you did not get your senior pictures taken on the original date in July, we will need you to get your pictures taken for yearbook purposes, even if you don’t plan to purchase any of the photos. Normally Holly Harshman Elementary would host Grandparent's Read Week and grandparents would be invited into the library to read to their grandchildren each day during their library time. Unfortunately, this year, we will not be able to have Grandparent's Read Week, so we are asking all MPS patrons to submit pictures of grandparents reading to their grandchildren. Attention Mena High School and Middle School Lamb and Goat Exhibitors: Lamb and Goat exhibitors will need to call and schedule an appointment with a local vet to get health papers before leaving for AYE. This needs to be done before the 2nd of October!

Coaches select #12, Max Montgomery as the Polk County Farm Bureau Insurance Player of the Game for week #2 vs Harding Academy. Despite Max having 202 completion yards and throwing for 3 touchdowns, the Bearcats suffered their first loss of the season at the hands of a tough Wildcat team at Bearcat stadium on September 4th, by a score of 44-20. Harding Academy stepped up and took on the Bearcats after Clarksville had chosen not to play games this year. Max is the Bearcats' Senior Quarterback and stands 6'3" this year and weighs 195 lbs. He is healthy again, after suffering a season ending knee injury in his Junior season. Max was born in Mena and is the son of Clint and Telissa Montgomery and is the grandson of Jeff and Penny Montgomery. When not involved in school activities, Max likes to work on cars and chase girls. After high school, Max plans to attend the University of Arkansas Fayetteville and join the Air Force's ROTC program. MHS Cheerleading Competition team will be doing a fundraiser this fall. They are personalizing your parking spots. Meals are free for all children under 18 thru December 31st. Virtual, blended, or non-enrolled students will have to sign up for meals every week. Meals may be picked up at Louise Durham or High School on Fridays between 1 and 2 pm. The form will need to be filled out by 2 pm Thursday for meal pick up on Friday. Dear Parents, We would like to thank you for participating in our virtual/blended meal service. On Thursday Sept. 3, USDA announced that they were extending the waiver to feed using the Seamless Summer Option through Dec. 31, 2020. This means that all meals will be served for free to all children 18 and under. We will still need you to fill out your free and reduced application for students.
