JAG Work Applications (upcoming juniors and seniors) are available for next year's JAG Work class. Thank you Mena Mayor, Seth Smith for the signing of a proclamation for Feb. 3-7,2020 as National School Counseling Week. The Mena School Counselors were recognized at the HHE Bearcat Eyes Are Watching Pep Assembly on Friday, Jan. 31st. for the extraordinary difference they make in our schools


The 20 members of the Mena Ladycat Basketball Team earned a composite grade point average of 3.47 for the fall semester... GO LADYCATS!


Our district AMI Assignment Completion Day percentage was 98.55%.
Our required goal was 90% completion.
Since our district learners exceeded the required percentage, we will be able to use our AMI Day 1 as a school day.
Our last day of school is still Friday, May 22nd.
Thank you to students, parents, teachers, and administration for your successful use of our 1st AMI Day.

The Mena Bearcats knocked off DeQueen Thursday night by a score of 43-41. It was the fifth win of the season & the second conference victory for the Sr. Boys, The Ladycats lost their matchup with DeQueen by a final score of 28-42. The Sr. Girls fall to 10-11 / 5-3. Mena will host DeQueen on Tuesday 2/4 at the Union Bank Center. GO BEARCATS!

This is the final week to order your personalized 2020 MHS Yearbook. The final deadline to order a yearbook with your name on it will be tomorrow, January 31st. Yearbooks are $60, and can be ordered through Mr. Philpot’s room 205 or online through the Jostens yearbook website.
Applications to be on the 2020-21 Yearbook staff are now available in Mr. Philpot’s room. If you’d like to be considered for next year’s yearbook staff, please fill out an application and return it to Mr. Philpot’s room by today, January 30.
Please continue to recycle your aluminum cans in the red recycling trash cans around campus, but please do not put any other forms of trash or plastics in these red cans.
The Senior Winter Formal will be held this Saturday evening, February 1, from 8:00 to 11:00 p.m. at Grace Bible Church. Tickets will be $10 for one person, or $15 for a senior and their guest. Seniors may invite one person between the ages of 9th grade and 21 years old. Tickets may be purchased in advance through Mrs. Hobson’s room.
Seniors: If you did not order your Cap & Gown when Herff Jones was here, please go by and see Mrs. Jennifer. If you do not order by March 1st the cost goes up from $45 to $55.

The Mena High School Spotlight Singers have earned a combined 3.85 grade point average. GO BEARCATS!


The Mena Sr. High Hosted Malvern at the Union Bank Center Tuesday. The JV Ladycats defeated Malvern 15-4. The JV Bearcats lost 16-20. The Varsity Ladycats improved to 5-2 in conference play with a 52-36 victory & the Varsity Bearcats lost by a score of 49-52...Mena will play next on Thursday 1/30 at DeQueen.

The Mena School District is working with the Division of Elementary & Secondary Education to implement a framework developed by Marzano Research called High Reliability Schools. As part of this process we are collecting feedback from parents, staff, and administrators through an online survey administered by the Hanover Research firm. Survey responses will be anonymous and data will only be reported as a group. Surveys are available starting Tuesday, January 28th and closing Friday, February 14th.
You will see two questions in this survey that ask whether you are a European Union citizen or are currently located in the European Union (EU). Hanover Research is required to ask these questions to comply with the General Data Protection Regulation, a new EU policy that gives citizens and others traveling in the EU greater control over their personal data.

Congrats to Gracie Lyle and David Grenier!
Gracie is a Junior and plays Guard and Forward for the LadyCats. She is the daughter of Brad and Linda Lyle. In December, she averaged 13 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals per game. Gracie also plays on the Volleyball and Track team and plans to attend UA RICH MTN upon graduation Way to go Gracie! .#goladycats #gobucks
David is a senior guard for the Bearcats and is the son of Rodney and Heather Grenier. In December, David averaged 17.5 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals, and 3 assists per game. He enjoys hunting, fishing, and playing basketball. Upon graduation David plans to attend the UofA at Fayetteville and major in Finance. Way to go David! #gobearcats
