
MHS Junirs attended Military Day at the Mena National Guard Armory on Thursday!





Mena High School held their 2019 Academic Honors Assembly tonight at the Performing Arts Center. Among the many honors and awards recognized tonight, students received their Academic Letters and Academic Bars for their GPA achievements. Spotlight on the Theatre Artist Series continues with Brad Storey today. Brad Storey is engaging the theatre students today in a discussion about drama and tragedies. He has been involved with productions in Mena for 22 years and directed multiple dramas and Shakespeare plays.

The Bearcat and Ladycat Golf team sign-up is underway. Anyone who would like to be on next years golf team needs to go by Coach Hunter's room 414 to get the info for the upcoming season's practices and matches.
Students, I would like to emphasize the importance of the assembly that will take place on Friday morning. Many students will be recognized for their hard work, dedication, planning and accomplishments by receiving scholarships, earning industry certifications and being recognized as CTE Completers. Please help us honor these students with your attention and respect at the assembly.
Students, if you have library fines on your account, you need to come by and take care of them. You will not be able to buy a parking pass this coming fall until all negative accounts are satisfied.

DVDs of the 2019 MHS Lip Sync and Talent Show are available for sale through Mr. Philpot's Journalism Room 205. DVDs are $10 each, and can be purchased with cash or check. Please come by the high school front office or contact Mr. Philpot for more information!

Today will be the annual free physicals in the Union Bank Center. Ladycats will be at 5:30pm and Bearcats will follow. This is the only opportunity for free physicals.


Zack Sparks has volunteered at Louise Durham all year under the JAG/HUB program through Mena High School. Zack has been a tremendous help at LD this year and will he missed!

The Mena Basscats competed in the Bass Federation Arkansas State High School Championship on Lake Ouachita. The top 5 teams qualified for the National Championship to be held on Lake Pickwick in Alabama June 19-23. The Basscats captured 2 of the 5 spots! Austin Johnston and Cason Canon took 4th place with 12lbs and 2ounces.
Austin Rose and Evan Graves took 5th place & also had the “Big Bass” with 4lbs and 14 ounce..
Jarret Burger and Brendon Caitlet also had a five fish limit.





The Mena soccer season came to an end today in the state semi-finals.. Valley View beat the Bearcats 4-0... Thanks for a great season guys... Go Bearcats!!!


The Mena Bearcats defeated Dardanelle 2-1 today & will advance to the AAAA State Tournament Semi-Finals... Mena will face Valley View on Saturday at 4pm... The winner of this game will play in the State Championship... GO BEARCATS!


Scotty Jenkins, our set builder for Oz, came today to talk about set building, acting, and directing comedies. He starred in his first play at 17 and has been involved in community theatre since. Thanks for coming to speak for our Spotlight on the Theatre Artist Series.
