Mena High School hosted the 2025 Special Olympics Basketball Skills Competition on Tuesday in the Union Bank Center. Athletes from Mena, Polk County Development Center, Cossatot River and Woodcrest competed. MHS students and community members helped coordinate the events and encouraged participants.

Mena High School athletes Elliot Dugan & Brynlee Bahr competed at the Arkansas Indoor High School Championships at the University of Arkansas on Saturday. Dugan finished 7th in the high jump and was 1st for 4A athletes. Bahr finished 7th in the pole vault and was 1st for 4A athletes.

The King of Hearts Pep Rally was held on Friday in the Union Bank Center. Congratulations to JOKIAH LOOK for being crowned the 2025 King of Hearts & Prince Charming CARTER COSSEY.

Four Mena High School students won multiple awards 1st through 3rd at the Mena Art Gallery youth show - Norah Williams, Camilla Booher, and Belle Jaynes, with Kate Wilson receiving "Best in show". Their art pieces will be available to view at the Gallery through February 15.


Anna Burt loves a good mystery. She’s currently reading a book written by a true crime podcaster, Ashley Flowers. Come by the library to reserve it when she’s done!
