
FM101 is a low power radio station operated by the Mena Public Schools. Our goal is to communicate with district patrons about the information & news they need from the Mena Public Schools. If you live in Mena you are at the core of the FM101 listening area but you can also listen beyond the city limits & over a significant part of Polk County. Your reception will depend on surrounding terrain & the quality of your receiver. Be sure to tell your friends about the new & improved FM101. GO BEARCATS !!!


Mena started in a ten point hole on Friday night at Bob Carver Bearcat Stadium but came back for a 28-23 win over Pottsville. With the win the Bearcats improved to 4-2 on the seasom & 2-0 in conference play. Mena will play at Dover next week.

Jessica Kropp will be ordering some school play shirts on Monday. Stephanie Hoyle, our amazingly talented art teacher, designed these. If you want a shirt, you are welcome to sign up for one here. I usually ask the students to wear them every Tuesday until the show.

The first performance of " The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood" is scheduled for Sunday, November 7th at 2:30pm in the Mena High School Performing Arts Center.


A great Friday pep rally at Mena High School !!!


Free flu shots will be offered on October 13th at the Mena Middle School. Students will receive a form Friday 10/1 to take home to parents. The flu shots are voluntary. The forms must be returned to school one week from today, Friday, October 8th .


The Mena Bearcats play their final regular season home football game tonight. The Bearcats play Pottsville at Bob Carver Bearcat Stadium with kickoff at 7:00pm.
Tonight is also Senior Night. That ceremony will begin at 6:30pm.
Students & Fans are encouraged to participate in a PINK OUT at the game. Wear pink for breast cancer awareness. GO BEARCATS!!!

Parents who are curious about the "Test to Stay" option for students who are close contacts to remain in school need to know that it is not automatically in effect. It is going to take a couple of weeks for the state to prepare schools for this. We will inform parents when it becomes an option. All skateboards must be left in the office when you get to school. You may pick them up after 7th period.
Students, please be aware that once you enter the gate for home football and volleyball games, you are not allowed to leave or go to the parking lot and come back into the facility. Once you leave the gate, you are making the decision to leave the ball game for the night, and you cannot pay to re-enter either.
Students who are attending the FBLA conference on Monday, Oct 4th need to meet with Mrs. Torix in Room 202 during Enrichment on Thursday to discuss leave time and pick up your district t-shirt.
Be on the lookout for an email and notification from your Google Classroom “Class of” for an invitation to hear a guest speaker, based on your saved careers in Xello. The first one will feature a nurse practitioner and will be on October 22 at 9:00 in the library. Please attend to gain knowledge and experience that will further your career exploration.
This year we are happy to announce we are able to provide you with after school library hours and tutoring. The schedule for this is:
Monday: Mrs. Hooker 3:30 to 7 pm
Tuesday: Ms. Catlett 3:30 to 7 pm (this Tuesday it start 4)
Wednesday: Ms. Ashcraft 3:30 to 6 pm (this Wednesday no Library Hours because of parent teacher conferences)
Thursday: Mrs. Hoyle 3:30 to 7 pm
Saturday: Mrs. Hoyle or Ms. Catlett 9:00 to 12:00
This is time that you can use to study, gather for a group meeting, use our new makerspace, or get help with assignments.
If you sign up for it before the end of school, snacks will be provided. Saturday tutoring must be signed up for by Friday, the google form can be found in your “Class Of…” Google Classroom.
Math tutoring will be each morning from 7:15-8:00, and each Monday- Wednesday after school until 4:15.
Ms. Hendrix will be tutoring after school on Thursdays until 5:15.
Students, there are art posters up in the hallway with a “SCAN ME” QR code. There will be a prize awarded to one of the students who respond to the questions on the form. Look for them and participate!
Anyone who would like to join FCCLA please see Mrs. Wilson or Mrs. Hobson. Dues are $15 and can be paid anytime this month.

Students, you have the opportunity to be the teacher each Friday during Lunch A. Ms. Labertew will be set up in the cafeteria each Friday during lunch A, ready for you to teach her a new skill or a trick. Once you show her how it’s done, she will attempt to perform it as well. Whether it’s juggling, roping, a card trick, or even dance moves, Ms. Labertew is ready for you to teach her something new. Look for her in the cafeteria each Friday during lunch A for the “Teach Me How To…” events.

Flu season is just around the corner! The Polk County Health Department will be coming to MHS to give flu shots on Wednesday October 13th. Enrichment teachers will be handing out the flu shot forms. The forms must be signed by your parents or guardian and returned to Nurse Bobbi by Friday, October 8th.
eSports students, please come to room 208 today to complete your accounts. Any student wishing to join an eSports team must complete sign up before October 1st.

Mena Volleyball picked up a 3-0 win over Bauxite on Tuesday & they remain undefeated in conference play. The score was 25-23, 25-23 & 25-14.
Mena Jr. High Volleyball also defeated Bauxite by a score of 2-0.
The Ladycats will play at Mansfield on October 4th. GO LADYCATS!!


MADI LYLE played in the Class 4A State Golf Tournament on Tuesday at Sage Meadows Golf Course in Jonesboro. She finished with a 101 on a tough course. Madi is a multisport athlete & always does a great job representing the Ladycats & Mena..
