
Heated lunchtime volleyball game at Mena Middle School on Friday!


Special education teachers recently attended their 2nd round of Training of Trainers, The training was held at the Dawson Educational Cooperative in Arkadelphia.
These trainings are a designed to equip district educators to support other educators in their district around inclusive practices.


Mayor Seth Smith visited with the MMS Project Prevent Team today during ACHIEVE. Topics discussed included Tobacco/Vape free parks, volunteering for trash clean up, the dangerous intersection at Dallas Avenue/Hwy 8, eclipse festivities and the groundbreaking of the new bike trail

Mena Middle School 8th grade students ventured over to U of A Rich Mountain today to participate in the annual Ready Set Go to High School, College and Career Day. The college staff shared information on concurrent credit, financial aid, the career center and more. Students were also entertained with a campus tour a Plinko game for prizes. Thank you U of A Rich Mountain for hosting!


Congratulations to the Mena Middle School Band on their outstanding performance at the Concert Assessment and Sight reading competition! The band received an overall excellent rating for their concert and a superior rating for their sight reading performance. The students were congratulated by Principal Todd Coogan on Thursday morning for their work and a big thank you from the band booster moms for the cake and chocolate milk!


The Mena Jr. High Relays were held at Bob Carver Bearcat Stadium on Tuesday. The Mena Jr. Bearcats won the meet and the Jr. Ladycats finished 3rd with ten schools participating.

The Mena Middle School Project Prevent Team chose to celebrate Read Across America week by reading to the 5th grade students at Holly Harshman Elementary. The Team read Smoking Stinks!! by Kim Gosselin. After reading, team members talked about the dangers of tobacco/nicotine use as well as the many opportunities to celebrate being tobacco free waiting for them at Mena Middle School next school year. The 5th graders were invited to participate in the statewide Project Prevent "My Reason to Write" Essay Competition.


In celebration of National School Breakfast Week, Mena Middle School students were treated to Banana Split Parfaits, made their way.

Mrs. Billings’ Middle School Project Lead the Way Classes have been doing projects in the fields of Aeronautics. They welcomed Hannah McDonald as a guest speaker to talk to them about this area of STEM. Hannah is a 2019 graduate of Mena High School and a graduate of the Aviation program at Henderson State University and is a certified pilot. She discussed the importance of math and science in aviation, shared her background in aviation training, and answered students’ questions. Hannah is currently employed by Envoy / American Eagle Airlines and is beginning her training as a passenger jet pilot. Hannah is the daughter of Todd & Lana Coogan and Gordon & Natalie McDonald.


A big shout out to all of Mrs. Frost's Lead For Change students at MMS, who have been volunteering to work as peer mentors with their fellow students in Mrs. Parnell's class. This group of Lead For Change students requested the opportunity to work in Mrs. Parnel''s classroom as their service project focus. Their heart and enthusiasm has been a wonderful example to all those around them.


Today is School Bus Driver Appreciation Day !

There was lots of fun at the MMS Science Night!


The steel framing for the new Hensley Activity Center arrived Monday morning. The building is expected to be complete by the start of the 24-25 school year.


MMS Leadership class came to teach our 3rd graders leadership games during enrichment!


The MMS Project Prevent Team met Wednesday to plan their spring semester tobacco/nicotine prevention activities and wrapped lunch break by having a campus trash cleanup!
