The Mena/DeQueen basketball games on Friday 1/10/20 were postponed due to weather.... This has forced a change in the schedule for later this season...
The make up game with Dequeen will be on Thursday Jan 30th @Dequeen. Varsity girls and boys starting at 5:00 p.m.
The February 4th game with Dequeen will be a 1/2 jv girls, 1/2 jv boys, Varsity girls and boys. The game will be switched to Mena.

Announcements for Monday, January 13th
We are doing announcements early today due to our pep rally that will take place during ACHIEVE.
Due to today’s Quiz Bowl, and pep rally, there will be no 6th grade GT meeting.
There will be Jr. High basketball action tonight at Rackley Gymnasium as Mena will host Bauxite. The evening will begin with 7th grade boys tipping of at 4:00.
From Mrs. Rose: BADD Club will meet in her office on Friday. Be sure and wear your BADD shirt.
Students in Lunch “A”: Due to the trash left outside on Friday, along with cafeteria trays and a couple of footballs, you will not be allowed to take food or drinks outside today. This applies only to Lunch “A.”

You will leave from your 3rd period class to go to the pep rally
Join in behind the cheerleaders and band once they pass by your room and follow them to the gym.
Sixth grade will sit at the far end of the bleachers followed by the 7th grade in the middle section, and the 8th grade on the end closest to the cafeteria.


The tryout signup sheets for the 2020-2021 Cheerleading Team and Competition Team, and Mascot are in the MHS and MMS offices. Please see Coach Hughes in room 315 at the high school, or Mrs. Breedlove at the middle school for an Application or for any questions about tryouts or cheer.
Signup deadline is February 13th.
There will be a MANDATORY candidate meeting, during Enrichment, on February 19th for ALL Sr. High Candidates.

The main phone line that supplies service for Mena High School, Mena Middle School, and Holly Harshman Elementary is down this morning. Hopefully repairs will be completed soon.


Gameday Monday!


The 7th grade Bearcats picked up a 29 to 27 win over DeQueen Saturday and the JV lost 10-19... Go Bearcats !


The Mena 7th grade girls won 40 to 37 over DeQueen Saturday & the
7th grade B team won 13 to 4 against Dequeen. Go Ladycats!


According to Mena Band Director Charles Morgan the All Region Band Auditions scheduled for Saturday have been cancelled.


MMS Family & Consumer Science Students enjoyed a personality bag round table with Mrs. Rose today.


Tonight's Mena/DeQueen basketball games have been cancelled due to the threat of severe weather... We will let you know ASAP when the make up games will be.


The Special Olympic Polar Plunge is scheduled for February 13 at 11:30 in the MHS Student Parking Lot. Stop by Room 214 and pick up your Plunge Form. Rumor has it that Coach Wright and Coach Lyle will plunge if their girls can raise $1000.00

Be sure to order your 2020 MHS Yearbook before it’s too late. The final deadline to order a yearbook will be January 31st. Yearbooks are $60, and can be ordered through Mr. Philpot’s room 205 or online through the Jostens yearbook website.


The deadline to order the MMS yearbook is February 14th. Also, if you want your yearbook personalized, it must be ordered by January 31st. The price also increases beginning February 1st.


Announcements for Friday, January 10th
We are starting to see an increase in students using phones in the halls, cafeteria, and library. Remember that you are only allowed to use your phone / devices outside before school, at lunch, and after school. This policy also applies to Apple watches, earbuds, headphones, beats, and airpods. The only exception to this is whenever the weather keeps us inside at lunch.
Reminders:
All GT students going to quiz bowls next week need to remember permission slips and your lunch on those days.
Spring soccer registration forms are in the office. Also, see the poster on the Library window for information about this Elk’s Free Throw Contest. Today will be the last day that these items will be on the announcements.
We will have a Pep Rally on Monday during ACHIEVE. The dress up theme for that day is Disney or Pixar character.
