Coaches select, #24 Junior Running Back, Jake Wiles as the Farm Bureau Insurance Player of the Week for week #6 vs. Dover. Jake had only 3 rushing carries last Friday night, but all 3 were for touchdowns as the Bearcats rolled over Dover by a final score of 43-13, for a much needed road win.
Jake is the 16 year old son of Clint and Melinda Wright Wiles and the grandson of Sue and Charles Powell and Dean and June Wiles. Jake is a very enthusiastic hunter and is looking forward to the upcoming deer season. He also enjoys being involved in the local Mena FFA chapter and working on the family farm. Jake plans on attending college after graduation to pursue a degree in Agriculture and hopes to return to Polk County after college to continue to farm, continuing the legacy set by his grandparents, the Wiles, who were recently recognized as the Farm Family of the Year for Polk County back in September.
This week Jake and the Mena Bearcat Football team will travel to NW Arkansas to face Elkins, who are still undefeated in conference play this season. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
Shown presenting this week's game ball to Jake are Head Coach Craig Bentley and proud uncle and local Farm Bureau Agent Mitch Sikes.

Gameday Wednesday!

Announcements for Wednesday, October 23rd
Students, you need to remember that you must have money in your meal account in order to get extras. This applies to breakfast, the 2nd chance breakfast cart, and lunch.
Your newly-elected Student Council met for the first time yesterday. One of the topics they addressed was the problem with trash and trays being left outside – especially during Lunch “B.” They came up with another course of action to see if it will help. So, for now, there is no ban on taking food outside. However, starting today, the next time there is a problem with trash and trays being left outside, instead of a ban on outside food, students will be banned from using their phones and devices during lunch for a period of time to be determined.
