Upcoming Events This Week:
Thursday Night – Jr High Bearcat Football opens their season at De Queen
Friday Night – The HS Bearcats will be hosting the Prescott Curly Wolves
Saturday Morning – The Lady Cats Volleyball team will be hosting the annual Lady Cat Classic, beginning at 9:00 a.m. All games will be played in the Union Bank Center at the High School.
Our first Parent / Teacher Conferences of the year are one week from tomorrow.
Students: There’s a way you can show your school pride & Bearcat spirit and at the same time, help raise money for our Library to purchase new books and supplies. Your ACHIEVE teacher has information about the Spirit & Pride T-Shirt fundraiser. Orders begin today and will end next Friday, September 13th.
From Mr. Sherrer: Any student interested in running for Student Council must return your Parent Permission Slip by Sept. 11 and have signed up online. You should have received an email from Mr. Sherrer with the link to sign up. If you didn't, please let him know.

Yearbook orders are underway for the 2020 MHS Yearbook. Be sure to order your yearbook at the lowest price of $48 before October 1. You can also get four free icons when you personalize your cover with your name ($6 for name personalization). See Mr. Philpot to order or for more information in room 205.
The library will be closed for Lunch B today.
ETS will meet with Seniors today during Enrichment in Room 209.
The senior bearcat football t-shirt order form is available in the office. Cost is $12 each for s-xl and $14 for 2x and 3x. Orders must be prepaid with exact change only. See Mrs. Wilson for details or go to the office to see a picture. The deadline to order is Sept 6.
Seniors, please bring baby and/or childhood pictures of yourself for a senior bulletin board. Bring to Mrs. Wilson’s room, room 412, by Friday, Sept 6.
Students: FYI, we have been instructed by the Mena Public Schools Security Team that we have to question everyone coming in to our building. So please be patient and wait for us to talk to you before you will be allowed to enter.
Sr. High Quiz Bowl will have practice today at Holly Harshman, Ms. Moore’s room.
Jr. High Quiz Bowl will have practice during Enrichment today at MMS in conference room by Mrs. Rose’s office.
There will be a pep rally during Enrichment on Friday. The theme for Friday is out of this world/alien! Wear your alien gear to school AND the game! REMEMBER! All Spirit-wear MUST be school appropriate.
Anyone who would like to join FBLA needs to bring their dues of $15 to Mrs. Lindsey in room 202 or Mrs. Torix in room 401 anytime. FBLA is open to anyone in grades 9-12 and we welcome all students! You can also bring your fall conference registration form and money before Friday, September 6, to either Mrs. Lindsey or Mrs. Torix. If you need a form, see them.

The Mena Bearcats picked up a win on opening night at Bearcat Stadium over their long time rivals from DeQueen... Mena led 36-0 at the half & cruised to the win... The Bearcats play at home again next week when they host Prescott.. GO BEARCATS!!





Be sure to get your limited edition 2019 football and volleyball schedule mini-poster tonight at the football game tonight when the Bearcats host the De Queen Leopards at Bearcat Stadium for the football season opener! Quantities are limited!


The 2019 Mena High School Homecoming Court was announced this morning at the first pep rally of the new football season. The homecoming court, determined by student votes, is:
Seniors: Kiara Kesterson, Paige Evans, Skylar Smedley, and Amy Thompson.
Juniors: Allie Martin and Marissa Ortiz.
Sophomores: Sarah Grenier and Cassidy Ashcraft.
Freshmen: Kate McDonald and Emmi Hines.
Homecoming 2019 will be Friday, October 4.

The Mena Jr. High Ladycats had a rough night at Greenwood on Thursday.The Juniors, JV & 8th Grade all lost 0-2.. The Ladycats will host Booneville on September 9th beginning at 4pm...


Day 2 at the Polk County fair & once again Mena students made us proud..GO BEARCATS!

The Mena boys finished 2nd in today's match at Degray & Austin Johnston was the medalist with a 39. The team will be back at Degray on September 4th.. GO BEARCATS!



We have less than 10 campers signed up for the Spotlight Singers choir camp which was to be held next week. We have fun running the choir camp, but it is also a fundraiser for us. Due to the small registration numbers we are canceling our camp this year. We simply can't afford to have it. We sincerely regret any inconvenience we have caused. We will return the camp fees we have received. Thank you for your understanding. Ms. Taylor and the Spotlight Singers


Mena Middle School is experiencing issues with it's phone system today. Technicians will be working on the problem this afternoon. We apologize for any inconvenience & hopefully the problem will be repaired soon.
