The Mena Ladycat volleyball teams played at Bauxite Tuesday night. The Jr. High JV won 2-1. The Jr. High Varsity won 2-0 & the Sr. Ladycats won 3-0.. Mena plays next host Arkadelphia on Thursday at the UBC. GO LADYCATS!
Mr. Benny Weston has been named the Arkansas Association of Educational Administrators Superintendent of the Year. Richard Abernathy presented the award at the annual report to the public on Tuesday night at the administration building. A number present & former superintendents from around the state also attended. Congratulations to the Boss Bearcat!

Auditions for the Yellow Boat, which is the SCHOOL PLAY this year, will be TODAY from 3:30-5:30 and 7-8 pm in the PAC.Callbacks will be Thursday from 7-8 pm. Anyone is welcome to audition for the play, you do not have to be in Theatre. If you are interested, pick up audition material in Ms. Kropp's room 201. Make sure to bring your calendar with any conflicts through November.

It’s not too late to go to FBLA Fall Conference (but it is too late to get a conference t-shirt). See Mrs. Lindsey for a permission slip today. The conference is on Monday, September 30.

Girls can sign up for a Powder Puff Football Tournament in Ms.Hobson’s room. Each class will have a team and compete against each other on November 4th. The cost is $3 to play and all proceeds go to Relay for Life.
Homecoming Shirts are available for preorder in Ms.Hobson’s room. The cost is $15 for size S-XL and $17 for size 2X-4X. You must pay when you order and the deadline is September 25th.
Senior Picture Retakes and Make-Up Pictures will be on Monday, September 23 here at the Mena High School safe room. For anyone who missed Senior Pictures in July, we will need your pictures for the yearbook. Anyone who wishes to get retakes, it will be $10 for the session.

Please let me know if you want to take the PSAT test. The cost of the test is $12 unless you are on free/reduced lunches--then, it is free. It is a pre-SAT and the only way to qualify to be a National Merit Scholar. Please let me know by this Friday. The test is Oct. 16.

Congratulations Taylor Thacker and Addie Dollar. They represented the Mena FFA at the Four States Fair today. Taylor won 1st in her class with a Charolais heifer. Addie took 2nd place with her Brahma bull.
The Mena Ladycats faced Lakeside at the UBC Monday night.. Mena won the Jr. High match 2-1... The Ladycats won the Sr. JV match 2-0 & Lakeside won the Senior Girls match 1-3... Mena will play at Bauxite Tuesday beginning at 4pm... GO LADYCATS!

From Mrs. Breedlove: She sent an email to all the students with a form to fill out if you are interested in participating in a pep rally game. The first Jr High pep rally will take place this Thursday during ACHIEVE.
Before-school and after-school tutoring begins this week. Tutoring will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Morning tutoring starts at 7:15 am and after-school tutoring lasts until 4:15. You can get help in any subject. If you attend after-school tutoring, make sure your parents know to pick you up promptly and 4:15. They need to pick you up at the main entrance at the front of the school.

The Mena Bearcats won a hard fought game at Hot Springs Friday night by a score of 10-6... A good crowd for Mena's first road game of the season watched a great performance by the Bearcat defense... The team will have an open date this week & will open conference play against Ozark at Bearcat Stadium on Friday, September 27th.. GO BEARCATS!!

Students who are registered to take the September ACT, the test is this Saturday. You need to be here at 7:50. Testing will start at 8:00. Bring your Picture ID, ticket, pencil, and calculator. Park at the middle school parking lot and enter through the side doors. Testing will be in the history rooms.

The Mena tennis team played at Arkadelphia on Thursday. McKenzie Strother won her match 8-6 & the team of Marissa Ortiz/Stephanie Lua won in doubles play 8-2... On the boys side of the net Will Davis won 8-2 & Austin Rose won 8-1.. Eli Cook & Wilson Hughes won their doubles match 8-4... The tennis team will play next on Thursday, September 19th against Malvern & hope in matches that will be played in Malvern... GO BEARCATS!
The Bearcat Jr. High football team played at Russelville Thursday night. Mena lost 6-29.. The Jr. Bearcats will be back in action on Thursday, September 19th when they host Dardanelle.
Mena golf played at DeQueen Thursday & finished 2nd as a team behind Fairview.. Chloe Rocha & Austin Johnston were each 2nd in individual play... The District Match will Be played at Degray in Arkadelphia on Wednesday!

From Mrs. Breedlove: Our fist Jr. High Pep Rally is next Thursday the 19th. We have a Theme for this one, Throwback Thursday. Dress to “Throwback Dardanelle!”
From Nurse Sherry: Today your ACHIEVE teacher will hand out flu shot clinic forms. This is an opportunity for you to receive the flu vaccination at no cost. The clinic is October 8th. The forms must be completely filled out and signed before being returned to the school. The deadline for the forms to be returned is September 24th. No late forms will be accepted.
We have free tickets in the office for any student that would like to attend a “Dinosaur Circus” that is coming to town on September 18th. There is an informational poster on the library window in hall “A”.
