Monday was field day for Mena Middle School 8th graders!


Mena High School sophomore ELIJAH SMITH competed in the decathlon last week in Fayetteville. There were 71 athletes from all over the state of Arkansas. He placed 5th in High Jump and achieved personal records in the 110H by almost 2 seconds, the 400m dash, 100m dash, 1500m run, shot, and disc. He has shown to be a great athlete and has a lot of potential to do great things in the upcoming years.

Mena Middle School FBLA, FCCLA, and Yearbook took their Education in Motion Magic Springs field trip on Friday.


6th graders delivered Thank You notes to Exploring Careers of Mena hosts. Thank you Polk County Sheriff’s Department, Mena Intermountain Municipal Airport, Mena Regional Health System, and U of A Extension for sharing your day with us.


The seniors gathered for graduation practice on Friday morning.
Mena High School 2023 Graduation Ceremony will be on Saturday in Bob Carver Bearcat Stadium!

MHS students were working the bees on Tuesday in the Duckett Forestry and Wildlife Outdoor Laboratory.


The Frank Mosley Outstanding Girl Athlete is a longstanding award given to our most outstanding and deserving Senior girl athlete. These athletes must be involved in multiple sports and display great character in the sport, their school and the community. The award is voted on by the head coaches from each sport, the athletic director, the assistant athletic director, high school principal and a Mena Public School Staff Member. This impact that this year’s winner has had on Mena athletics will be felt for many years to come.
This year’s Frank Mosley award winner is a 4 sport athlete who excelled on the field, court and in the classroom. She not only is a leader within each athletic program that she participates in but she is also involved as a student leader on the campus on Mena High School involved in FBLA,NHS,NEHS,STUDENT COUNCIL AND JAG. She will also be continuing her athletic career at the next level, signing a letter of intent to play collegiate softball.

The James C Copher Outstanding Boy athlete is a longstanding award given to our most outstanding and deserving Senior boy athlete. These athletes must be involved in multiple sports and display great character in the sport, their school and the community. The awards are voted on by the head coaches from each sport, the athletic director, the assistant athletic director, high school principal and a Mena Public School Staff Member. This impact that this year’s winner has had on Mena athletics will be felt for many years to come.
This year’s James C Copher award winner excelled in both Football and Soccer all while maintaining a strong GPA at the top of his class. He is also a member of the JAG competition team which competed in Orlando this spring.

Teach Kids to Save Program:
Louise Durham Elementary Library collaborated with Union Bank of Mena on a Program called Teach Kids to Save.
Teach Kids to Save is an outreach program designed to teach and encourage good saving habits early in life. Union Bank also donated a picture book for our school library that supports financial literacy.
Tiffany Williams: Library Media Specialist said, "We work to be a bridge connecting our students to the community through literacy and learning— working to grow our students for the future."
